RUINS / 2026
Ruins was a group exhibition featuring five artists from China, Finland, Iran, Kurdistan and the United Kingdom. I was one of the participating artists, and the exhibition brought together practices that explored challenging and delicate subjects that were often difficult to represent directly or speak about.
The exhibition focused on collective memory, lived experience, and the traces of trauma carried by individuals, families, communities and landscapes. We approached the idea of “ruins” not only through the physical remains left by war and violence, but also through psychological, cultural and emotional forms of ruin that could be carried within people and passed between generations.
Across the exhibition, the artists used different forms including painting, sculpture, installation, objects and video, drawing on symbolism and metaphor to approach experiences that could not always be represented directly.
Ruins provided an opportunity to consider memory, witnessing and endurance through my own artistic practice. Rather than focusing solely on destruction, the exhibition also explored remembrance, survival and the possibility of moving beyond inherited histories and trauma.

Collaborative work with Ignacia Heredia Contreras https://ignaciaheredia.com/
We set out to create a collective work through drawing exercises. On translucent paper, each of us makes a drawing based on a list of concepts, which will then be superimposed into an installation object. Like an archive of a dialogue between two friends who share a sensitivity toward their place of origin, we ask ourselves how our landscapes look when layered together, personal landscapes that construct our imagination.
The work consists of an installation with drawings, with a light at one end. The audience is invited to interact with the piece by moving the drawings and composing different images from them.
It is a simple exercise that seeks to bring the cultural differences between two people into a tangible object, to show how new images are constructed through sharing in daily life situations.
