I am a Kurdish contemporary artist and figurative painter based in Birmingham, UK and currently completing an MA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London.
My practice explores the relationship between figures, environments, memory and lived experience. Working primarily through painting, I use acrylic, drawing and layered mark-making to construct spaces that exist between observation, recollection and imagination. My figures often occupy ambiguous environments where psychological and physical spaces overlap.
I am particularly interested in the ways memory is formed, carried and transformed over time. I consider memory as fluid and subjective that is shaped by sensory experience, place, personal histories and the stories passed between generations.
My ongoing research engages with historical and collective memory, displacement, cultural identity and the representation of experiences that cannot be fully captured through documentary forms.
I bring together personal and collective perspectives while remaining grounded in the possibilities of contemporary figurative painting. Through my work, I ask how a figure can carry memory, how environments can hold traces of experience, and how painting can create space for histories and perspectives that remain unresolved.
